Nature practitioners in business cannot act alone – they need to help colleagues across different business functions to translate nature commitments into meaningful action.
Business networks, consultancies and NGOs play a key role in supporting this transition by building internal capacity, facilitating knowledge exchange and helping companies embed nature into business decisions.
The session will offer a sneak peek of the Embed Nature Playbook – a digital decision-making resource designed to help practitioners engage colleagues across different business functions, ensuring nature is considered at the right time and communicated through the right narrative.
It will also explore how business networks can:
-
engage a broader range of business audiences beyond sustainability teams;
-
adapt and scale the digital Playbook across their networks; and
-
strengthen their support to businesses and help bring nature higher on the business agenda.
Target audience
Business networks, industry associations, NGOs and organisations working with businesses to advance nature action, as well as business practitioners. The session will be particularly relevant for those interested to learn about practical experience and knowledge resources to help companies engage internal stakeholders and embed nature into business decision-making more effectively.

Connection to the official COP17 agenda
This session supports implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework by strengthening the capacity of businesses to integrate biodiversity considerations into decision-making and accelerate corporate action. While many companies have committed to nature-positive ambitions, implementation often depends on successfully engaging decision-makers across different business functions.
By equipping nature practitioners with practical resources that support decision-making and fostering collaboration across business networks and knowledge organizations, the session contributes to scaling the uptake of nature knowledge, improving corporate capacity, and supporting the broader implementation of the Global Biodiversity Framework. The collaborative approach also demonstrates how partnerships can amplify impact by enabling multiple organizations to use, adapt and disseminate shared resources across their respective business communities.
Relevant Global Biodiversity Framework targets include
- Target 15 – Encouraging businesses to assess, disclose and reduce their biodiversity-related impacts, dependencies, risks and opportunities.
- Target 21 – Ensuring that knowledge, data and best available information are available and accessible to support biodiversity action and decision-making.
- Target 19 (indirectly) – Supporting capacity building and collaboration needed to implement biodiversity commitments.
